Check the front drive shaft to make sure you have the greaseable u-joints. If not, have it rebuilt immediately. I would recommend switching to synthetic oil. Either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple are great choices. How many miles on your car? You may want to have a new tranny filter installed and then have the transmission flushed. The fluids in the transfer case and differentials could probably use a change also.

The double cardon MUST be rebuilt using greasable u-joints. And then grease them at every oil change.

it just turned 50k on the clock.

i am gonna do the diffs and the tranny all together at 60k when i do the major service. but i may get bored one weekend and do it sooner.

as far as the front diff and joints go, will any drive line shop be able to tackle this or do i need to go to a LR shop?

Yes, any drivelins shop can do it. If they can do u-joints they can do the double cardon.

The LR dealer just sell you a brand new driveshaft with the same non greasable double cardon that you already have.

Since you are so close and I am assuming you want to take care of your Disco., I would suggest doing the 60k service now - including the front drive shaft rebuild...

there is a good drive line shop local. i will stop in this week and see what can be done.

i just received my rebuilt waterpump from the UK for my 308. that is the project currently on the books. then after that i will most likely do the 60k service on the rover a little early. what is a good source for magnacore wires? also i need a owners manual and a rave cd. any sources for those besides ebay? i hate bidding on crap, i would rather just buy it.

Interesting... Is your spare wheel the same as the ones on the ground???

I got my Magnecor's from apexperformance.net... I had a 10% off code plus they were cheaper than anyone else... If you PM or e-mail me, I can give it to you...

yeah it has 5 of the HSE wheels. i thought that was a added bonus along with having had all its services up to the 45k mark.

it was a one owner vehicle that appears to have been well taken care of. when the weather drys out and i can roll around under a dry vehicle i will make notes of things that pop up. but for the 120miles i have driven her, she has been smooth, quiet, powerful, and fun.

the only things i really would love to have is the owners manual that was not with the rig. am i to understand that the 04' might still be under some kind of factory warranty or did i just imagine that?
