HUB STILL LEAKING??
Hello All,
I am at work and need to order a socket big enough to remove the axle nut to replace my rear hub... What size is that nut? THANKS!! Josh |

RE: What size is my axle nut?
XD-DII's have a single non servicable hub, like on a front wheel drive car.

RE: What size is my axle nut?
I called the parts dept at a dealer in Fl and was told it was 36mm by a mechanic... I have a 30mm socket and it is too small to fit over it. I have had misleading and incorrect information from dealers before so i was hoping someone on this forum could tell me. I can find out myself but not until the weekend. =(

Let us know what sized it is so that we may help others.
Sorry we couldnt help you. |
RE: What size is my axle nut?
Ok it is a 36mm nut.
But now i need to remove and replace the hub. I have removed the hub and of course the drive shaft comes out with it. I need to press the drive shaft out of the hub and press it into the new one. Has anyone done this before? I think using some type of gear puller might work to pull it out. Any suggestions? Thanks |
RE: What size is my axle nut?
The biggest problem is the re-torque of the hub nut, you will need a torque wrench that does 360 lbs ft.

RE: What size is my axle nut?
Yeah I figured that would be a challenge... but thats no problem...I have a friend who works on big rigs who might just have the tool needed for that part. Other than that, you think a gear puller will do it? I guess its worth a try!
