Ignition wire replacement?

I have a 2003 Disco with secondary air.

The RAVE procedure for replacing coil packs (and wires, I presume) tells the tech to use the intake manifold procedure for trucks without secondary air. Is that correct or do I use the secondary air procedure?

One last thought...my significant other has small hands (she's 5'0" if you give her an inch). What are the chances of her being able to replace wires without going through this hassle? [sm=smiley2.gif]

Your going to get your wife to get dirty? Man, you've got guts!!
I have heard of others doing this without removing the manifold, I thought that SAI made the job alot more difficult, but I could be wrong.
Good luck.

Work with your wife and the instructions below and you will get thru this pretty easily.

Thanks, all.

Mike, I did a search for "ignition wires"but this threaddidn't show up. It's very helpful, indeed.

Anyway, I was scratching my head looking under the hood and noticed that I have aftermarket wires already. Someone's been there first, it seems. Since they appeared to be in good shape, I opted to swap out the plugs first in case that cured my ills.

Eight Bosch +4s later it's running like a new truck.

Anyway, everyone could use someone like this in their garage. She was an immense help getting plug # 7 (one of the two coding) out.

I'm about 100 miles short of 50,000.

I've never heard of this lot, but the wires say "Leoni Suppression 2015". The plugs looked like cheap Champions. They aren't in their original looms in somespots andheld in place by a"freefloating" looms in others. Since they look somewhat new, and not knowing what stock wires look like, I was inclined to think that they've been replaced at some point.

Anyway, the boots came off and went on with a little work, but not as tough as some I've worked with. There was also a slight about oxidation on the connectors inside the boot. A spray test in the dark afterwards didn't show anything out of place.

I've a set of Magnecors and an intake gasket on order and plan to install those when time permits.

Good, I haven't heard of those wires, and if you can follow some directions, you won't need that intake manifold gasket, unless your v/c gaskets are also leaking, then you would want to pull the manifold.
