Independent Repair Shops in Boston?

Anyone know of any good indy shops for Land Rover repair in Boston? Our 03 Discovery’s warranty just expired, so we’re going to need a cheaper alternative to the stealership… Is there a national list of LR repair certified repair shops, etc?

Thanks!

I have no idea man, bad thing is most people on this site are spread out.

My sugggestion is that if the work is easy, do it yourself.

My best times are when I'm changing a transmission or doing a motor swap, so if your brake pads go out and you change them (which is extremely easy) you might like getting your hands dirty and trying it for yourself

same for the Beemer

Haa... I wish Ihad time tothese days... My fiancé's car is the Disco, and she works 70+ hours a week (as do I now)... The last 2-3 yearswe've really been working a heck of a lot, and there's not so much time anymore for working on car's etc. I miss doing the work (and still try to do small things)... But I'm at the point now, where if I need a brake job, its much easier to drop it off for the day at a good trusted shop, then to use my one day a week off doing it...I've been fortunate that i found agood, inexpensive indy shop for the bimmer...

I'm checking on a place for you. I have someone I talk to on a weightliting board. he runs a shop in Mass, but not sure where. He has given me a lot of good info on my disco.

he wasn't in Boston but gave me a few he recommended:

2 Excellent ones in the Greater Boston area, Cityside Garage in Holliston and Boston Roverland in South Boston (617)269-4554. Top notch guys with factory diagnostic equipment. Thanks for the kind words!

FasTrack in Peabody, MA is not a Rover specialist but a really great and inexpensive shop for all your machines... it's run by this INS racer who has plenty of money and just does it because he loves cars. Don't have the number but I'll look it up later...

They can do pretty much everything there, too.

Two thoughts, why didn't you buy an extended warranty, expensive but worth every cent and how mechanical are you, with our help we can probably walk you thru most things.

Took the Disco to Bob at Boston Roverland yesterday and picked the car up today... He seemed very knowledgeable and passionate about LR's... which is a big selling point for me... Plus his shop is about 1 mile from my fiancé's office, so she can drop the car off in the AM if she has a problem.

One of the most trustworthy mechanics you can find in the heart of the city is Carmin at European Car Doctors. He's been in business for years, is super reasonable, unbelievably honest and he'll even install parts you bring into him.
