I knocked the baffle out of the tube with a punch and hammer, one hit and it came out in one piece.
The tube will come in and out with pliers.

03-04 also has a restrictor disc in the top of the tube, I cut that restrictor disc off with a tubing cutter before I put it back in the valve cover.

I’ve come across two 03’s that had the old style 99-02 setup which made it easier lol.

Default V288 worked for the pcv

There should be a sticky write up for this.

i grabbed one off amazon. “V288”. Looks similar to the fram and threaded right on.

getting the plastic piece out was a pita. Had to use pb-blaster to get it to loosen.

im hoping this will stop the valve cover leak. Going to clean it up and track it.

best mod for engine longevity so far for bang for buck ratio.

Yes, I know, I removed the baffle in my 04, and of course the tube has to stay, or be put back if removed.

Does anyone know if there's a video showing this process? I'm a bit confused, but I'd like to learn to do this properly - my vehicle is an 03 DII.

I can do a vid if needed, but try this first. On an 03, find the hose coming out of the passenger side valve cover. Remove the hose. Grab the top of the tube left sticking out of the valve cover with a pair of pliers, might need vise grips. Twist it back and forth, slowly wiggling it out of the valve cover. Once it is out, cut the top of the tube off, the solid part with the small hole in it. I use a small tubing cutter, but you can also you a hacksaw if you take your time. Once the top is cut off, drill out the plastic part in hte center. Once that is done, you need to tap the tube back in to the valve cover. I use a socket that fits tightly over the tube. Once the tube is in place, then just put the hose back on. The other end of the hose slides over a connector fitting in the front of the intake manifold. Unscrew that fitting and screw in the new PCV valve. Connect the hose there.

A dremel and vice grips also works for getting the top of the nipple off
