I was at a Wal-Mart the other week sucking out there used oil (part of my job is oil recovery) and they had a new F-250 in the bay getting the oil changed. They were busy.
The car infront of the Ford left, so to make room for the next car they moved the Ford forward.
The kid got in, turned the key, moved the truck forward 20 ft.
Then when below and put the new filter on and replaced the drain plug. Thats right, replaced the drain plug after driving the truck 20ft with NO OIL in the crankcase.
I was totally amazed.
When I was in Hi Skool a friend of mine worked at a quick lube. 10 min or less or its free. If they were busy they wouldnt change the oil filter. Or if it was a hard one to reach or were just out of stock.

I take mine to Jiffy Lube once a month due to that is about when I need to change the oil. I stand out front of the vehicle and watch them. Ask them if they did something while they are doing it. Ask to see the oil that they pulled out and etc. It is easier for me to take it to them and save myself the hassle of doing it once a month. I also like the top off because I have to get that once between oil changes. Though I am going to start bringing my own filter.

Just remember that using a fast lube joint you are at your own risk.
Most of these places have very in-experienced young, wanna-be mechanics.
Your best bet is to find a garage that is family owned or find a quick lube joint that is family owned.
Otherwise you could be in for a long ride home in the front of a flat bed truck with you LR riding on the bed.
