Default Land Rover Discovery ll timing chain and gear problem

new timing chain and gear set problem. I have a 04 Land Rover Discovery ll 4.6 finishing an oil pump project and I needed a new chain an gears. So I find them on eBay. Cam an crank gears an chain. Well today I go to put them in, an it is not going to happen. I notice the chain does not set down into the gears all the way. In which case you can not put the chain and gears on. Because the chain won't fit into gears all the way it makes the chain to small if you will. An yes it's a proper match set for the motor. An now I don't know what to do. Any one heard of this

I re-use the OEM gears. AllMakes4x4 gears = worse I've seen, I installed a set, rotated the engine with the timing cover off and saw the timing chain hop. Inspected it closer and the new cheap China made gears were NOT straight. Slapped on the originals, and all was good.

Default Timing chain and gears

yes I am not a fan of china junk either. This is my first time working in a Rover motor. I'm a american motor guy. An I have always had no deflection on either side with a new chain an gears. An I have what I consider to be to much especially on the left side if your looking t the front of the motor. Then once it breaks in it's going to get worse. That bothers me. I will try the original gears an the new chain today when I get home, an get back to you. Thanks

I just did the oil pump and gears on mine. Just the cam gear and chain. All is running fine. I think yours looks normal. If I recall I had a bit of play on the left. Oh, it is an american engine btw. GM design.
