Leak
I think that I have an axle seal leak on my 99 DII. The oil is dripping down inside the Drivers side wheel and tire, I cant really see where the leak is ,so I pressure washed everything I could. It's drying out now. I am going to drive it around a bit then come back and see If I can see the leak. I haven't lost any fluids like PS or brake fluid. that I can easily measure
Can someone tell me what to look for? Is the oil leaking from the Diff? If so is the seal at the wheel hub the only one besides where the driveshaft comes out? I am looking at the Rave seems to be a seal at the hub and the diff end of the axle.
I just had the lower ball joints replaced when I got tires. They were leaning a bit.Could this have messed up the seal?
Also what parts should I replace along with the seal. I have not been in here yet. I did my own head gaskets so I should be able to do this with some guidance on here.
Thanks again and again and please advise .

What is involved in replacing the seal ? Or the o-ring. Looks like everything is held on by 1 nut. Is a puller needed to get it apart?
I am looking for some pics I saw awhile back on the forum on how to pull this apart. Does anyone know where these are?
Thanks

Stuck
A couple of questions about the front axle. Rave pg.54.6
How can the hub be pressed or removed from the steering knuckle ?
Shows in the rave not removing the nut on the end of the CV shaft.
I just want to replace the oil seal behind the cv joint.
Hub is stuck in tight
Also Why does the differential need to be removed to to do this?
Thanks

You don't have to remove the differential to remove the hub. In fact you have to remove hub and axels to remove the differential.

I guess the hub is rusted stuck. I got the bolts out earlier and I beat on it for a while. So now I soaked it with penetrating oil and will let it sit while I go run errands this afternoon. Will pound on it more when I get back.
I assume the axle from the diff must com out to replace the seal, What tool do you use to seat the seal? I don't want to buy a tool from LR it would probably be a zillion samolies.
