Lighting upgrade???

I'm looking to upgrade my factory halogen headlights with an aftermarket Xenon or HID light for better vision at night and off-roading in the dark!! Has anyone else done this and have any suggestions on brands??? also what light is it... H7?

Thanks,

PS... i'm also thinking of putting a 2" lift kit on my disco for a bit more ground clearance... for the most part my disco is all stock... would i need anything else other than the 2" coil spring spacers???

any 4x4 shop should be able to help you with the off road lights.

for the lift, personally, i would go for lifted springs, unless price is really that big of a deal. http://www.rovertym.com/ has different kits availible depening on how far you want to go. or you can go to any rover friendly site and get emu springs.

good luck with all that.

as far as lights, the HID is not just bulbs, and a conversion kit for just about any ride usally starts at about 700 bucks (for real HID).
Go with some silverstars, they are pretty nice, run 30 bucks/pair.

As for a lift, if you only want 2" I would just suggest coil springs, not 2" spacers, then if you want 3" you can add the 1" spacer. 1" spacer is usally as much as you really want to go. You also could just go with 3", as 2" lift is not really worth it, and 4" is now only a spacer away. 3" is about as much as you wanna go without changing driveshaft (vibrations after 3" is common, some people get away with 4" and no vibes.) Look into some big blues as far as springs, if you buy them real used, they have about an inch worn out of them. If you can afford the OME's (80 bucks each) go with them. With 2-3" lift you can still use the stock shocks but articulation won't be all great. Pro comp is a cheap way to go (9000's=2" extd. length, plus the adapter they come with gives you one more) Again if you wanna spend the money get a set of fox's or OME's. But no matter what if you even rarely go offroad you will kick your self for not going with the 3" lift.

Long story short, go with 3" springs, and if you do a lot of off roading, you will rather not run stock shocks.

I am running 3" springs, and planning on a 1" spacer soon, 3" even looks short with bigger tires, until you park next to a stock LR.
Good Luck.

www.dap-inc.com They sell the Big Blues, and the Pro Comp shocks. I have heard that they are not as stiff as OME, and they are cheaper. You can lift her for less than $400.

It would be a real win, if "bmwrovers" all of a sudden came back and thanked him for the advice.

Talk about being patient for getting help...lol.
