Looking for a new high quality air filter
 

Now that my truck is up there in mileage I want to use a good air filter. As of now I have the regular paper filter you get from napa. Is this K&N filter from Atlantic British good?

Any other suggestions for a good high flow filter?

Don't use a K&N. You'll get maybe 1-2 horsepower, if that. Worse though it will kill your MAF in a few days. The stock paper air filter is our best option for any year disco.

Go to NAPA, or AutoZone, or Wal-Mart and buy a name brand paper air filter.
Like hazlet said the K&N air filter will kill your MAF, you wont gain any horse power or MPG if you use the K&N.

Better yet go to a dealer and buy their paper filter, the filter is sooooo much better and will last longer then the after market paper filter that quite often don't even fit in the filter box well.

if im using a K&N filter, how will I know if my MAF is killed? symptoms?

When your check engine light comes on show both banks running either lean or rich and you get a tranny fault code.
Why, with all the warnings about the K&N are you still running it, or do you just want to go buy a new $260 MAF?
Do you realize that beside contaminating the MAF, they let in more dirt then any other filter into your engine????

i have heard all the warnings, and also am aware that they allow more dirt into engine...
but at this time, I am up against having to have a head gasket job done and am not driving my 99. so im not only going to have the head gaskets installed, also having pressure test and plane heads if needed... I think I found an HONEST mechanic who will do a thorough job, and he does not go by the book, only thing is i have to have it flat-bedded over a hundred miles away to his garage.
