Looking for some awning ideas for my D2

I'm in need of a durable yet reliable easy to setup awning system for my 2004 Discovery 2. I prefer vendors here in the US if possible. I have a high profile Safety Devices roof rack so perhaps an awning that could be bolted to the rack? I'm also open to buying used if the condition and price are right.

Triar,

The awnings are typically supplied with brackets and mounting bolts to attach to the roof rack.

Most awnings come in 2 meter or 2.5 meter. 2 meter will work best. 2.5 meter awnings will extend slightly beyond the front and rear roofline of yuour truck.

One thing to thing about when getting an awning is whether you want an awning room. Just thought I mention it as some manufacturers do not offer awning rooms with their 2 meter awning (e.g., OzTrail). You may then want to consider the 2.5 meter awnings.

They're stupid expensive. You can get a standalone EZ-UP, Quick-Shade, or Shade Tech canopy at the home improvement store for $80. A roof rack mounted awning won't be easier to deploy, and it's fixed on the roof so it's on there for trips even when you don't need it, and you do, you can't leave it in your camp.

But I can see you're accessorizing your car with consumer trophies. So you'll want an Eezi-Awn Manta 270.

By the way, I hope those Jerry cans are empty and you don't drive around with 20 gallons of petrol on top your head. Molotov Rover?

Yes Im familier with Equipt Eezi-Awn Manta 270 and I have my eyes set on it - down the road. But for now I was hoping to find something around the $180 range that worked just as good. Ill check out the shade tech you mentioned though. I dont mind leaving an awning attached to the truck at all times. Yes the fuel cans are empty for now, but one day soon they will be gushing with fuel. Right now Im testing the gear, seeing how everything works, sounds, functions etc. So experimenting with roof rack loading, use of jerry cans and the hi-lift etc that way when i do go on a trip whether it be to AK or just a weekend event in the White Mountains of northern NH, Ill know how to use everything. Thanks for the tips.

After tons of research I finally found this ARB 1250 Awning that retails for $180! This is a great place to start. Down the road I will upgrade to the Equipt Bat Wing style Awning but at $1,300 I cannot justify that kind of investment at this time. Thanks for the tips.
