Lose/Abscense of Power

Hey hope you guys had a merry christmas
It's been about 6 months since i've driven my disco, and i can't remember if it was always like this but my disco has no power when it comes to accelerating, especially up hills, lol. I end up having my foot all the way down on the gas pedal, and it barely will keep it at the speed i was going. Any Ideas? I just changed the oil, spark plugs, charged the k&n air filter, and fuel filter.

what was the last time you did a tune up? seafoam in the tank and induction and throttle body cleaning?

herblatham Dec 27, 2009 09:11 AM

I did all that about 6months ago, except for seafoam in the induction, don't know how to do that..
when i changed the oil last week, i put the sea foam in the oil

I'll try the throttle body cleaning, is the driver side that's elevated when you do it?

Do you have any codes? I would ditch the K&N filter as the oil kills these particular MAFs. A paper filter in this application is the best. That being said I doubt that is your problem. Discos are no speed demons but they should be able to accelerate up a hill. Get a compression and leak down test to see if you have an engine issue. How fresh is the gas if you have not driven it for 6 months?

I don't have any codes
I by no means expect my disco to be racing around, lol. but at least to go up a hill without out struggling. While i was gone, my younger brother drove it time to time to get groceries, and always made sure to use premium gas, so that shouldn't be the problem..

Any rattles from the exhaust? Could be blockage in one of the cats.

no rattles for the exhaust either
