Loud noise turning HWY land rover discovery 2
Here is an interesting one. 2002 D2 with approx 175 miles.
Truck makes a humming noise and has a very slight vibration feeling in steering wheel while turning towards driver side only on highway.
Don't notice anywhere else but highway driving, basically anything over 40 MPH.
Before anyone says "wheel bearing" or hub assembly" I'll ad that I've had this same hum for over a year of driving.
My experience with wheel bearing issues is when you start to notice, you've got about a week or two to get it fixed before blow up.
Also, wheels and tires have been changed out within the last year with no difference.
Was thinking ball joints, but a mechanic friend did a pretty deep inspection and said they were good.
Looking for any other ideas, cheers.

Okay, I'll be the first to not say it might be the hub assembly.
Drove my mini van for three years with a bad hub, beater back and forth to work vehicle, so never had much interest in putting money into it...then it got to the point where it was like a research project and wanted to see "just jow many miles it would go"...lol.
At 245K...I changed it (started making noise around 195K). The hub on the drivers side was actually moving in and out an entire inch. But, my point is...it never actually gave up the ship. Bought that van for 1500 bucks, drove it eight years and it had 299760 when the head gasket let loose. Drove it to the junkyard, smoked for a few seconds and cleared up, and it drove like the day I bought it...great.
Anyhow, good luck finding your issue.
Brian.
