MAF sensor code P1174

The code indicates that the lambda controller has reached it's maximum threshold for close loop feed back control. The end. so, should I clean the MAF, or just get a new one??

I battled an 1174 for months. Ended up purchasing a brand new factory Bosch unit from Parts Geek on the cheap!

Truepart is around $50. Bosch is around $130. Hmmmmm. Wich one will work for me??

Coors said he battled for months. Decide between 50 and 130. The cheap one, you have to move the sensor to the original housing. Good that you mentioned that p code, im having that too now but cant figure it yet since i bought the cheap 50 just months ago and also busy replacing the HG in the other disco.

I have been battling 1174 and 1171 for a while, and I put in a Bosch. Still dealing with it. Vacuum leaks can be another cause so check all lines. I replaced all mine, so my next step is the injectors when I get time.

Sorry to thread jack, but what are your fuel trims. They will give you an indication of where to look next. I also had these codes a couple months back.

How's your purge valve? Gas Cap?

My trims indicated the ecu was adding fuel to compensate for unmetered air. After ruling out vacuum leaks I decided to replace the purge valve with the Hyundai unit and an stant gas cap off Amazon. No more codes and fuel trims stabilized to a healthy steady +/- 3%.

With your intent to replace fuel injectors sounds like your ecu is pulling fuel. Do you believe they are leaking?

I don't know why you think a P1174 indicates a failed MAF. In my experience a P1174 indicates a vacuum leak. It's a bit odd that you are getting a P1174 and not a P1171 to go with it. If it were a MAF problem I'd think you'd be getting a fault for the left hand bank too and not just the right hand bank. If you think about vac leaks it seems to me that the only ones that would affect only one bank would be caused by fuel injector O-rings. As coors asked, what are your fuel trims?

Mine was fuel injector o-rings.

Good one to put in my brain bank, thanks to you and min01. Good T/S is cheaper and often quicker than throwing parts/money at it.

I took the rover to autozone. They took the reading, and downloaded to their computer. the only code was P1174. The lambda controller has reached its maximum threshold for close loop feedback control. and no fuel adaptation has occurred for a predefined period of time. my truck does not run rough, starts right up everytime. Had heads done last year. Engine is pretty tight. New MAF sensor is $100 on ebay. So I will replace it. The other paragraph reads: Lambda control adaption fault bank 2. Last occurence- maximum signal
