major draft...

I have a major draft from the front driver's door. When the speed reaches 60mph the door starts to shake. It hasn't been in an accident and appears to close properly. No other door does this. I don't mind the wind noise but worry about causing damage to the hinges due to the shaking. Any ideas of the cause and can this be adjusted without going to a body shop?

Thanks.

Does the top of the door shake or the whole thing?

From what I can tell while driving, it is the top of the door. I first thought the window was open as it was shaking, but that wasn't the case.

I have only had the truck a couple of weeks and have just started driving it.

This happened to me too. As far as i can tell there is no adjustments on the door/hinges like you would find on a Honda or something. If you go to a body shop they are just going to take the glass out and try to bend the door a little.

Here is what i do:

Once a week i roll the window down all the way, put my knee against the door right above the pocket at the bottom, and i pull on the top/right corner of the door. Not extremely hard just enough to bend it a little.

This completely stops the wind noise and vibrations for about a week.

Each week i repeat and at NO cost.

Open the door, there are screws on the window frame, loosen them, adjust the frame and then retighten.
The window frame is seperate from the door, 3? screws hold it in place.

i'll check it out.
Might it have anything to do with a seal?

Spike555 03-03-2009 07:29 PM

Yes it might.
Thats why we club them.

Run by a body shop and let them look at it.
