Major Electrical Problem. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have a 95 Disco with a manual Tranny. I have replaced my alternator in Sept. (although not tested but is is new and not a re-man). My battery is being drained of its cranking amps. I went and bought a brand new battery and put it in and tried to start her. She turned over but did not fire up. I came back a few minutes later to try again and it didn't even turn over and my multi-meter was showing a full 12.8. My previous battery baught in April 08 is charged as far as volts go but when it was tested it had no cranking amps. If my cranking amps are being drained and my girl wont fire up where should i look for the issue?
Please help anyone.

RE: Major Electrical Problem. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

That 12.8 is a surface charge, not the real volyage in the battery.
Take your battery out and get a good 2 hour charge put on it.
Also the proper operating range for your Rover is 13.6 volts to 14,4 volts, any less then this and you are going to be having problems.

Did you route the belt corretly when you replaced the alternator?
After you charge the battery you can look for a short by using your multi meter hooked to the battery and removing fuses one by one looking for a change in the battery voltage.
