Melted O2 Sensor! and bypassed fuel inertia switch?
This second 97 Discovery that I am working on has a couple of issues...
Here are two of them http://lh3.ggpht.com/_0bJu9ABKrGM/Si...0/P6020109.JPG And http://lh4.ggpht.com/_0bJu9ABKrGM/Si...0/P6020112.JPG So could the bypass be why the fuel gauge doesn't work? And surprisingly the O2 sensor seems to still be working since it's not throwing a single code. 129k miles 97 Discovery. here are more pics which maybe some of you can give feedback on it's medical condition... http://picasaweb.google.com/Landrove...nS97Discovery# |
yeah, pretty sure bypassing the inertia switch will kill the fuel gauge.
|
Yeah i wonder who did that? Maybe the PO or last guy who attempted to fix it rigged it so and didn't know to reset it. I'm gonna remove the bypass, reset the switch and see if she still runs and if the fuel gauge works.
Thanks okdiscoguy |
yeahm may be a bad switch.
|
Bad switch, and it won't effect the fuel gauge operation.
Looks like it is time to rewire that 02 connection, sure won't work like that. |
I like their plug for the radiator.
And that is the dryest power steering box I have ever seen on a Rover!! |

UPDATE:
I "unbypassed" the fuel inertia switch and reset it and it runs fine. Fuel gauge still doesnt work nor does the tachometer. Upon further inspection of the melted O2 sensor, all the wires/ connections are still good (intact) but i'll still be searching for a used harness to replace it with. ALL fuses are good. |
Check the wiring on the alternator to see if that is what is causing the tack to be in-op.

I was just wondering if this a bypass of the inertia switch would work? I am just hoping to use it as a temporary solution till I can get a new one...
