Mike - N - Spike????

or anyone else, I remember Mike talking about yellow tops and Spike talking about Dualast batteries.

So, I'm considering getting a new battery - so, I went to the less expensive places I know that sells batteries Sams for the yellow top (Optima) and Autozone for the Dualast

My question is, WTF... all these people could/would tell me is...We don't sell batteries for "that truck"

IS there a certain one (part number) I need to go beyond what the parts people look up.

Thanks to all that respond

Robert

Do your own research and find the SIZE that your truck takes.
car batteries come in sizes, 24,34,38,14, etc.
Your truck takes a size with top terminals.
Any battery that will physically fit in the battery tray and with top mounted terminals will work in your truck.
So you can pull the battery out of your wife's Camry and stick in your truck.
Now here is where you really need to pay attention, different batteries have the positive and negative posts on different sides, so if you buy a 24-L (for example)the positive post may be on the wrong side and you will not be able to hook it up.

Mike likes Optima, I prefer the Duralast Gold.
Everybody says Optima's are good, Consumer Reports rated the Duralast Gold as a Best Buy 2 years ago when I bought mine.
It is made by Johnson Controls here in West Michigan.

I spent a little time at Sears recently and found the 2 batteries that were pretty similiar to the Odisey battery and have to admit they have a better deal. Their 34 series blue marine battery is very strong and has a 5 year warranty, 4 more the my Yellow Tops and their larger battery has, I believe, 1050 cold cranking amps and 200 minutes of reserve.
You might want to look into them.

I just bought a Duralast Gold, don't know the exact size but it was the largest top terminal battery that would fit in the battery area (that this particular autozone had in stock). I believe it is 850 cold cranking and 1000 cranking amps for $90 with a 3 year warranty. For my needs a battery that big even is overkill.

yellow tops are great for off-road but be sure to buy one at a place that sells a lot of them. If it's sat on the shelf for 6 months it's ruined, if you leave it drained for a few months it's ruined.

Thanks guys - Eurotrash, I printed your list

Thanks

Robert

PS, we considered Camry's when we traded her "old" car in but we didnt have enough parking for 6 new cars, so we just got another 911 instead!
