Missing Relays - New Owner
 

His folks. Brand new owner (as in 48 less than hours) of a 2002 Discovery II. I am missing the R7 AUX, R14 and R13 relays in my fuse panel under the hood.

Can someone point me to where I can order these or part numbers so I can search for them. I did a quick search on ebay and nothing popped up.

Missing relays = depends on the options your D2 is equipped with (SLS, ACE, fog lights, front defroster). If you don’t have those options = missing relays are normal.

I agree with Best, as usual, but R7 is AUX circuits and R13 is the horns so they should both be installed. Do the horns work on your truck? R14 is ACE, which is uncommon but your truck may have it. ACE is Active Cornering Enhancement. If your truck has ACE the power steering fluid reservoir will have two caps. If yours has one cap your truck doesn't have ACE and the relay would be less useful than the nipples on your chest (assuming you are male).

As for where to buy them, any auto parts store (AutoZone, Advance, NAPA, O'Reilly's, ... )

My Discovery does have fog lights, but I don't know what ACE means/stands for. The horns work, but the PO installed a button near the ignition switch that now makes the horns work. I haven't looked into how he has it installed. Of course, I would like to go back to the original design, but one problem at a time...

I noticed that I don't have any power to the stereo (factory) now the AC/climate controls at the center console, to the right of the steering wheel. Before I start pulling fuses or relays, which fuse(s) are responsible for those? I don't see anything on the fuse panel that would be for those.

I have an original owner's manual inbound.

ace = active cornering enhancement. it's a set of hydraulic rams that actively adjust the suspension as the body rolls when cornering.
open the bonnet and look at the reservoir for the power steering system (driver's side, behind the air filter box).. if it only has one cap on it then you don't have an ace system. two caps, you have ace.

you should download a copy of the rave -- there are links all over this site. it's an electronic reference manual for all land rover models.
there are also multiple fuse boxes, so that may be why you haven't seen one for the console yet.

A few updates:

1. The AutoZone link I posted earlier for the R7 AUX relay doesn't have the same blade configuration as my fuse panel. I cant seem to find the correct relay.
2. I located the fuse panel under the steering wheel. Still poking around, looking for blown fuses. I haven't found any yet.
3. I need the R5 relay
4. I don't have an ACE system
5. I found the opening for the OBD II reader above the gas pedal, but the connector isn't there. It may be push behind the plastic cover, but what the heck??!!

the odb connector always pushes in from the kick panel, because the kick panel is so flimsy. take it out and throw it away.

as far as i know, there's nothing special about the relays. they're all standard parts -- nothing rover-specific about them.
