Moving to Turkey!
Looks like I'll be taking the 04 Rover abroad. Aside from fixing some minor issues (oil pan & radiator are leaking), what should I do to prep the truck and what spare parts should I take with me? No, I can't bring a spare D2, and I've already got Disco Mike's phone #, although I'll have to watch out for the time change Will be there for 2 years, and it will be the family's only vehicle, so reliability is key. I've already replaced the front prop shaft with a serviceable one, CPS, plugs/wires/coils, shocks, all O2 sensors and dropped in a top hat liner block which Mike from Great Plains has generously offered to warranty in Turkey. This doesn't happen till June, so if there's more, I've got time. Thanks in advanced for your advice!

Good luck! you're in for a whole new experience there. It's mega hot in the summer months but I'm not so sure about their abilities on a D2 out there although there are lots of Brits in Turkey so there may be some decent LR shops around. Have a good time during your visit. Whereabouts in Turkey are you living? If it's the city it'll be OK but if it's in the sticks just watch some Clint Eastwood western films before you go to get into the right ambiance and flavor

I would order a spare head gasket kit from AB. Not just because it has HG's but nearly all the others you would need for any other repair. I'd also take a spare Motorad 180 t-stat from amazon as they are pretty cheap. A couple of air filters wouldn't be a bad idea since you can those here for like 10 bucks.

Excuse the 'wind up', just having some fun. Adana, I know of it, just north, north east of Cyprus and an hour or so from the Med. It's surprisingly remote for a big city and some 'hilly' country around those parts good LR grounds. I think there's a large national park between the city and the Med. I hope all goes well for you and the family and you enjoy the change. Take care, safe journey and soak up the good weather. It's got to be better than the east coast blizzards the US is suffering at present.
