Having personel experinace of the failings I would stay clear of BRITPARTS also know as SH*TPARTS, other wise then you dont need anything. How are you getting it over there. If in a container then you can load it up with anything you want. Roll On Roll Off dont alow you to carry any thing in vehicles due to items being stolen by the crew. Are you taking it over there on a Carnet or import?
Enjoy and have fun

You're suggesting I go back to a higher rated thermostat? What about converting to a chevy in-line? I've seen threads pushing every option, including the 180F Motorad I currently have.

No. Rover makes a 180 t-stat themselves. I believe it was originally made for the freelander deisel but it also works for the DII.

ZGPhoto had a bad experience with the Motorad but I take it you have no problems as mine has been perfect since installation.

I never used the motorad, I've just seen several people on here that have had them fail, include coors, Julian, and possibly dusty, though he may have just bought one in case.

If you are going to Turkey you may as well buy yourself a proper Land Rover or at the very least a G-Wagen. When I was over in that general area you could find whatever mid-80s/early-90s SUV you wanted. We went with 300GD and it served us well for about 7 months. I mean it wasn't as protective as a Humvee or something, but it did its job.

The military will be shipping it for me...can't ship anything inside It's probably smart to have an extra thermo on hand whether the Motorad one is inferior or not. I'll order P/N PEL500110.

I already suggested the Defender

Sounds like Dan is quite happy with the D2 though, and who wouldn't be with a properly built engine that you don't have to worry about?

Ah,
you are with the military.
You'll be OK then.

You need to know what you are doing in that part of the world.
I would not last long without mentors.
