Muffler
Having put a significant dent in an already iffy muffler, I will need a new one soon are there any brands to avoid ?
Rock- auto has 2 Bosal and Ansa price is pretty close around 130 CDN both good one bad ? Looks pretty straightforward to replace |
I have always had good luck with bosal for stock replacement
|
I just went with @best4x4 suggestion of a Borla XS pro, tame with a little growl.

Thats what i'm gonna get to replace mine most likely -- Its been sitting in my amazon cart for about 6 months now haha

I got a muffler/tailpipe from Lucky8.
It fit perfectly, zero issues or complaints. Cheapest option and good quality. |
The SS setup for $218 looks like a killer deal -- is this what you picked up?

I will take a picture of it tonight if you want, as it's sitting in my basement. It was easier to remove the whole thing again when I took the engine back out. The muffler, or the muffler and tailpipe are very quick and easy to replace too(aside from any rusty fasteners on the old one). You only need a floor jack to jack the rear driver side frame up(tire stays on the ground), to open up some space over the axle to fit the tailpipe through. You don't even need a jackstand as you do not have to get under it when it's jacked up, you can put the tailpipe over the axle while laying behind the truck. Lower jack, put pipe on rubber hangers, 2 bolts on each side of muffler, done. |
I checked, my exhaust is definately is Not stainless steel(I didn't think it was).
It's just coated mild steel. But, if they have a ss one now, I'de get that(I would have if it was available when I got mine)t, especially for $218. |

Looks identical to mine.
I betcha it's just cheap stainless, as alot of that is magnetic, and mine is. Regardless, if you like quiet/stock sound, this is the best and by far the cheapest option. The tailpipe can be bought seperately too for around $100, if you wanted to buy a different muffler. |
