Mystik oil synthetic blend 15W-50

Hello All,
I have been putting this oil into the older Discovery trucks.
The Discovery I with 155,000 on it.
The Discovery II with 98,000 on it

For the summer.

My theory has been - the engines are loose and this thick oil may be helpful.

I find this at the local autoparts store. Some have it, some do not.

Seems like good stuff. It remains cleaner looking for a longer time.

This may be that it has low detergent in it.
Or that it is not causing damage to the engine.

Not sure which.

After 3,000 mile on the DI - I may lose about 3mm or so on the level.
Leaking it out, burning? I changed the valve cover gaskets a few years ago.

I have not owned the DII long enough. The DII has been an "experimental"
truck for me - having fixed it in the wilds of Colorado.
Maybe gone 600 miles at best in the D2.

All in all, I find that when the D2 goes over railroad tracks that are bumpy,
you really get slammed. The suspension seems a lot more tight and solid.

The DI - you can pretty much hit anything hard and you don't really feel it up in the drivers' seat.

I think they tried to tame the DI (The Germans / BMW) and refine it.
But, maybe the DI had it down - as far as the suspension and axles.

D2 seems to have a much more luxury ride.

Colorado..
Where the winds blow 50+ MPH when they want to.
Elk and deer roam around.
and the forest fires burn and burn.

And, the sun shines 300+ days a year.
I did not believe that. But it is true.

Glad to hear you like the oil.
Use what you like.
You cannot judge the condition of any lubricating or cleaning fluid just by looks, it must be tested in a lab to determine how much life is left.
I like using diesel oil for the same reasons you like this oil, its a good oil, its cheap and can be bought anywhere.
