Need help figuring out how to install side finishers along A-pillar
I had to replace the side finishers, but I can't get them flush with the windshield. I've got new spring clips on, and I've tried to wedge them on every which way. No matter what, they won't sit flush against the windshield (especially toward the top). It results in a lot of windnoise as I drive.
How do I get them attached? Should I attach the spring clips to the A-pillar and then attach the side finisher to it, or should I attach the spring clips to the side finisher first, and then attach the whole thing to the A-pillar? any ideas? |
Attach the spring clips to the body, then the finisher to the clips. Do not insert the 3 rivets until everything is lined up. This is all done with the doors CLOSED.

I just tried it, and it succeeded in getting the finisher flush with the windshield. The back of the finisher, however, where the rivets attach to the finisher, is about 2mm back from the back of the pillar. There's a gap there, and if I push the rivets all the way in, it pops the finisher back up, pushing it away from windshield and creating a gap in the front.

Welcome to the headache of A-pillar trims. I broke the upper piece on the driver's side where the clip attaches. Super glue only holds so well. I am not satisfied with the way mine are mounted, so I am going to redo them at some point (after I buy a new left trim).
