New LR keyfob barcode lost

Hello all,

I'm new here, but after purchasing a 100kMile '03 D2, and the subsequent engine replacement I've just had done, I'm becoming more familiar with the joys (and expense) of LR ownership.

My current challenge involves a missing barcode from a keyfob I purchased from my local LR dealer here in Vancouver, BC. Their procedures should probably be changed with regard to the parts counter letting unprogrammed keyfobs off the premisis, but they assure me that the barcode was in the key-and-fob packet before I left to have the key cut. Either way, I now have a genuine LR keyfob that 'can't' be coded to my car, but that I've had the blade part cut to fit my locks. A while back there was a thread where a gentleman named Roverguy7 could provide barcodes if I found the 6-digit code from within the fob. I've done just that and a photo is below (41116D is the code I presume). However, for some reason I'm not able to PM him (or anyone for that matter - perhaps a limitation of my 'new member' status). Can anyone else provide me with the barcode from the 6-digit serial number?

Thanks

Rhodri

He worked (or maybe works?) for the dealer, and was just looking them up in the computer. We just need to find a nice friendly dealer with knowledgeable people that know how to look these up. I need a couple for my Discos too. Being that you bought the part from them, I'd make a little bit of a stink and have them contact the UK (or wherever) and learn the process to find these codes. Anytime they replace a BCU I cannot imagine that they sell the owner all new keys.

Tested this myself. from another member, Sandman614. just drop in your code, and it will generate the code1 & code2. :)

Cheers!

Hopefully he got it sorted 7 years ago...

I never did receive any message on this issue. Here are the facts, regarding this matter: With the 6 digit code, found on inner surface of key fob printed circuit board, one can determine the original bar code, though I long ago forgot how to do it, because, using a Nanocom reader, one can simply program the vehicle BCU computer to accept ANY key fob, new or used, with no bar code. I have done it numerous times, with complete success. I also have a Hawkeye reader, but it cannot program BCU for a used key fob; it can do it only for a new key fob WITH bar code. The key fob itself is never programmed, the vehicle BCU computer is what is programmed.

I’ve used a Hawkeye a couple of times to program used remotes on D2. I know you called them and they said it cannot do it, but in the tech support world sometimes it’s easier to just say it doesn’t work. I’ve done it. I know it works.
