awesome.

side note- I wasn't actually saying you were gay, just reminded me of the movie. For whatever it's worth, I got a good chuckle.

and out of curiosity, if you don't mind me asking, what did that set-up run you?
haha, i know you were kidding around, no worries...

The setup ran about $2k total... $350 for the install and the rest was parts... I bought the parts online (list they'd be an extra $1k or so)...

I have the older Avic N1, tried to install it but get the static feedback. i need to figure out how to bypass the factory amp in the non H/K. Any suggestions, i see you paid 350 for install and that is something i rather not pay since i know how to install it, minus the amp bypass![:@]

anyone have any suggestions?? i have read many posts on discoweb.org
still cant figure it out tho unless i run all new speaker wires[:'(]

I added a Pioneer AVIC-N3 flip out NAV, with backup camera, iPod (works great) and Sirius. Love it.

That's tight.

You need the right adapter kit... they make 2... an amp bypass one and a non-amp one:

I don't have H/K and I bought this adapter. Works great for me:

Two questions. Does the 89-9400 trim plate adapter work for all cd units. I am looking at installing the apline cda-9883(http://www.crutchfield.com/S-PkuJaJT...83&tp=5684) with the ipod plug and the steering wheel component to keep the controls at the steering wheel. The only issue I have installing myself is making it look professionally with the trim around it.

Second question - Do all discos comes with an amp. I have the 6 disc under my passenger seat and it stopped playing cds which has prompted me to look for a new unit and just use my ipod.

Q1: Yup, thats a standard trim piece... makes the HU compatabile with a single DIN setup.

Q2: I believe so... The base system uses the adapter linked above... If you have the upgraded stereo, then you need the pre-amp out connector:

So, the DIN-mountable trim plate will allow me to install the head unit with the standard trim it comes with?
