The 20w-50 is fine, it wont hurt a thing, I use Mobil 1 15w-50 in my LR.
As for how much oil you need, I do not know, we dont have diesels here in the States.

ORIGINAL: DiscoRom

Thanks Spike555, I'll buy Castrol OR Shell Diesel Motor oil and diesel oil filter later, how many liters?
and should I be worried that the previous motor oil given is 20W 50? Whats the worst thing that can happen to my engine. Where I come from there are only a handful for LR service centers compared to Japanese counterparts and they are not that cheap. Owning a rover is like adding another member of the family
Shell Totella T is much better than Castrol, much cheaper, and available nearly Every where.

In case you were wondering I use Royal Purple 15w40 diesel oil.

Thanks for all the inputs. Royal Purple sounds like a kings ransom.
If I use "quality" oil as previously mentioned, will my periodic oil change be extended?
Or will it just be the same?

Ok, I had a chance to look up your oil sump capacity, according to the RAVE CD 5.8 L for the oil sump and .85L for the oil filter for the 300tdi engine.

How often you should change the oil will depend on the quality of the oil, your type of driving and your climate.
You live in the Philippeans, so hot humid climate.
How do you drive? Do you pull a trailer? Use it as a taxi? Delivery vehicle?
How do you use your truck from day to day?

Got the specs. Thanks
I just use the truck for daily work, I should say not more than 10 kilometers round trip.
No heavy loads, just me, my wife and my daughter are the only passengers.
60 to 70% of the trip is bumper to bumper traffic with about 6 traffic stop lights along the way.
Speed rate is no more than 60kph (there is one strech of road that you can go "fast") but mostly below 30kph.
I like driving my rover to work.

I would change it every 8,000 km or every 6 months, whichever is sooner.
Change your fuel filter once a year no matter the what.
