Noisy blower motor on low
 

I read here that a few people have had luck quieting down their blower motor (mine squeaks when it is on low) by drilling a small hole in the casing and spraying in WD40. Anyone give more details where to drill the hole?

BTW it is great that I'm to the point where I am only worrying about this.

Pull the blower motor out of the truck and set it on the bench.
You will see where the shaft is, there will be a hump, drill a small hole at a angle on the side of the hump.
DO NOT use WD-40, WD-40 is NOT a lubricant, it is a penetrating oil, more than that it was originally developed for the Navy as a deck gun protectant to keep the guns from rusting from the salt water spray.
If you want ot keep your favorite shovel from rusting while in winter storage, coat it with WD-40.
If you want to lube something use motor oil or Liquid Wrench, silicon spray, etc.
Pay attention to the orientation of the fan when in the truck, you dont want the hole that you drilled into the motor housing to be facing down so that all of your lube drips out.
3-in-1 oil is perfect for this, it even has a small applicator on the tip of the can.
After you put some lube in the hole spin the motor by hand, re-oil, repeat.
All car HVAC blowers are squirrel cage fans so it will be easy to spin by hand.
Once you remove it from the truck you will see exactly where to drill your hole.

In have done this on many a GM car that I have owned, I always used motor oil HD 30, same as for the lawn mower, I always have some laying around for lubing squeaky things.
Used a soda straw to drip it in.
But like I said 3-in-1 oil is the same thing.
