OBD Software and OBD to USB cable for Land Rovers.
Has anyone here has bought a OBD to USB cable and downloaded any free OBD software?
Experiences? Good? Bad? Where can I buy one cheap cable/software that really works with Rovers? I need to check the codes of my car, but... since the car is parked 95% of the time and is something like a toy for me, I do not want to spend money in an expensive code reader.... I need a cheap tool to read the codes and a couple of things more... Experiences welcome! (I have a `94 Disco 1!! 3.9) |
I doubt you'll find any on the market under a few thousand $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s.
Go to Canobd2 and click on products, then tools, look closely at the 3130 and if interested, I know where you can buy them for about $134. |
Thanks Mike for the help....
Checked the tool, but it is still does not fit into my budget (Well.. I even have no budget!!). Here are several links to different softwares that are free, but, since the Disco I is not OBDII compliant, I do not know if that software will be usefull for me.. http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...calc-7490.html I am looking for something like this: http://www.drewtech.com/products/Mon...ngooseiso.html But it must work in my Discovery 1 Here is the explanation to DIY a cable: http://www.aldlcable.com/ Question: Disco 1 is OBDII compliant? |
look under the passenger seat from the back, there is a screen that shows the code. http://www.fourfold.org/LR_FAQ/RR/FA...ult.Codes.html this will tell you what they are. the 94s and 95s have OBD1 systems which are much simpler, good luck.

I'm not sure he meant an actual diagnostic utility, but just an OBDII to USB cable. Those are around the internet for around $15.... http://www.virtualvillage.com/usb-ob..._medium=shcomp Here is some good software starting at $70... http://www.scantool.net/software/ Although I'm positive there are freeware OBDII programs floating around. |
the cable/software for OBDII are around $15 on ebay but I don't know about OBDI.

You can buy an adapter to hook onto that scanner and then you will be able to read the OBD1.
