OEM or Aftermarket....MAF Sensor?

Hey guys,

I need to get a new MAF sensor and air intake hose (going used here).
Opinions and experience would be appreicated -

OEM Bosch MAF sensor (around $127 w/ ship is the best i've found)
or aftermarket, for example-
Autotrust plat MAF sensor w/ 5 year unlimited warranty @ $54 w/ ship

Anyone using an aftermarket MAF sensor? Results? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

have you tried cleaning your old MAF sensor?

Yes. Cleaned it, still didn't work. Put it in a different air intake hose, didn't work. Put in someone else's MAF sensor combined with new air intake hose...runs like a tank with power i've never experienced with my new Disco (with thanks going to the new plugs and wires too)

OR, if anyone knows of any other tricks or things to do to bring my current MAF sensor back to life...please share.

Otherwise, i'm still open to hearing others opinions on replacing with an aftermarket part.

if you've cleaned it really well with electrical contact cleaner and it still doesn't work I think that's about all you can do...sucks but sounds like its time for a new one

I've been using an aftermarket MAF for over a year with no problems. I don't remember it being that cheap, but it was under a benjamin.

that's not bad...rover parts are all about the benjamins

Grab an OEM MAF from Will Tillery (roverguy.com) for $125 and be done with it. I've been burned by 2 separate "new" aftermarket MAF's on 2 different vehicles (Disco II and SLK320) - I'll never make that mistake again. A good MAF makes such a difference in how the vehicle performs....don't roll the dice over ~$60.

This is what I was wondering, if anyone has had issues with aftermarket MAF sensors. I'm probably not going to roll dice over $50...especially considering the work i've already done.

Thanks.

It will not run right if there is a leak after the MAF.
