Oil Change shouldn't be this complicated

OK. 2000 land rover discovery 2. 235,000 miles. V8 Engine. Its time for an oil change but I do not have an owners manual to tell me what type of oil and how much. I want to use High mileage oil since it does have over 200,000 miles. Advance auto parts can't tell me how much and what type and the internet gives me different answers every time. How many quarts and what grade of oil do i need?

Please take the time to read this thread. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...estions-46975/ 15W40 Shell Rotella is your friend. Need two jugs. Takes about 7 quarts with the jumbo filter. You came to the right place on the internet. And your copy of the factory owner and shop manuals, called the RAVE, is in the link below.

While in the tech area, read the section on rebuilding front propshaft, which is a $100 fix to keep from killing your transmission. Since this is your first oil change it is assumed that you may have been overwhelmed with all the new gadgets to get used to,

The DII takes 6 qts with the stock sized oil filter.
Shell Rotella is your friend.
I think the drain plug is 15mm.

At your mileage, you should be changing your oil every 3000 miles or no more then 5000 miles with synthetic oil.
Again, with your mileage, if you haven't done a major service in the last year, go to the top of this section and read/do the complete major service.
Again because of you higher mileage, have you ever replaced your oil pump and timing chain set, if not you better before the pump fails or the chain stretchs too far causing a great loss of power.
