P0171 & P0174 & hunting between 3rd & 4th.

I cleared the codes and got about 20 miles before the p0174 came back. I have cleared it but haven't driven since. Some searching here indicates that the hunting is related to these codes somehow.

Anybody have suggestions for what to do next?

I'm going to go out and R&R the induction tract from filter box to TB and see if I find any gaps, cracks or anything else unusual.

You have a bad MAF, shout if you can't find one for under $200.

Roverland is out of stock. Everywhere else I've checked is over $200. Any idea how much the stealership would want for one? I need to drive the truck about an hour each way tomorrow and the stealer is on the way. I'm assuming it's probably okay to drive like it is?

Call Tony at 650-365-4145, he has them for under $200.

I meant to mention that those codes have not reappeared. I now have P1884 and P0104. I think this confirms the MAF failure. Should replacing this also clear up the hunting issue?

The 1884 pops up alot and usually goes away when the real problem is found/repaired.
As for the 104, have you checked that plug, is it dirty/wet. Are you still running factory plug wires?

DavidG Jul 13, 2009 08:29 AM

The plug is clean. I think it still has the factory plug wires in it but I'm not really sure. They don't look shiny and new, but they don't look nine years old and 140,000 miles grungy either.

If they are grey in color, they are original and should be replaced ASAP to improve your power and mileage, should take care of that #4 misfire also.

Hi All. First post and i hate to post on one that is a few years old. But I just purchased 2006 Lr3 w/112k and I also have the 0783, 0171 and 0174 after a few days of driving.
Not having any shifting issues that i can tell at this point.
Did you guys conclude it was the MAF? no one has brought up O2 sensors yet.
Thanks!
