p0453 fault code on 03 DiscoII with secondary air
 

Recently purchased an 03 Discovery II with secondary air injection and I'm getting a p0453 fuel tank pressure sensor high fault code. The problem being that 03-04 Disco IIs with secondary air don't come with fuel tank pressure sensors so how am I getting that code? Took it to an independent shop to have the codes scanned and they pulled up the same code. They said that replacing the fuel pump or the ecu might help. Might being the operative word. Before I start throwing parts at this problem, has anybody come across this situation before?

Looks like your ECU got replaced with an ECU with programming for SAI.

Get an ECU from the junk yard with non SAI programming.

But then you need to match the ECU to the Body control module and that is not easy.

You may be best to just let it go.
Unless you have a lot of money and time and like frustration.

That code might be your EVAP. Hard to say. Need to look at rave.

Symptoms

I can't get a RAVE pdf where I am now.
I would get the Rave.pdf and then look up the code in rave.

I do have SAI so I think the ECU was replaced with a non SAI unit. I removed the kick panel and what looks like a replacement ECU was installed, but not bolted down.

I bought an ECU, BCU, and instrument cluster all from the same vehicle with SAI off of ebay, but I'm guessing that if I replace all at the same time I'm going to have to have the key reprogrammed at the dealership.

If it were just a matter of having to live with the check engine light being on I would, but the light being on is an automatic emissions inspection fail in Colorado so I need to take care of it.
