P1412 Error Code - Time for the mechanic?

A few days ago my engine light came on. I recently purchased a Innova code reader and P1412 popped up. The exact wording was - Secondary air system fault bank 1drive cycle D: Signal Implausible. I cleared the code and just this morning it came back again.

I did my best to search through these forums for a few solutions. I've looked for loose hoses etc, but can't seem to find anything.

Is it time I bring the Discovery in? Is there anything else I can try on my own? Good news is that I'm pretty sure this code came up soon after purchasing the vehicle and they stated that they would fix it at no charge if it came up again.

Thanks,
Cisco

Bring it in to WHO, not the dealer if that is what you are asking.
Yes, find a good small shop and let the find/fix it.

Yeah, sorry, I would bring it in to the small shop where I purchased it. Not a dealership.

I just wasn't sure if there was anything else I could do on my own. It seems pretty complicated.

I checked with the resident mechanic (husband); he says it could be a hose that has a leak. He also says you need freeze-frame data to see if it's rich or lean.

Cool, thanks! Any idea how I get freeze-frame data?

Oh and here's the code scanner I purchased - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product

Update:

Before I had a chance to bring the Discovery in the engine light went off on it's own. Perhaps a valve came unstuck or who knows.

Fingers crossed it doesn't come back.

I've had some time to read through the Rave manual more and feel like I'm getting a much better understanding for this vehicle. I really need to start tinkering with a few things now. I'm planning on my first oil change in the coming weeks.

The site is simply amazing and thanks again to all those who keep offering help!

Check the vacum lines on the secondary air valves they have a habit of falling off
