A perfect example of a failed rotoflex....
This is on my '96 DI....
https://img37.imageshack.us/img37/23...0920370001.jpg Was getting some vibes under acceleration so I stuck my head under the truck to check the u-joints and this is what I see. I knew it had some stress cracks in it and needed to be replaced, but I put it off for some reason. If yours has cracks in it, by all means replace it!!! Cheapest one I could find ($50): http://www.roverlandparts.com/discov...ouplers-3.aspx |
Try to get an used drive shaft from a range rover clasic from 87 to 93 i think, they come with u joints and they are very very good,

Why???? When a roto flex can go an easy 100K without needing replacement, much leass they will take a 3" with no problems.

$50 is about the best deal you are going to find. I found one at my local wrecking yard that they just gave to me since I have been a lot from them lately for the new Disco 1. You may have some luck on getting a good one since most of the parts I have been buying have been coming off of cash for clunkers that were turned in. There have been perfect grills, interior and just about anything else you would like off a cared for vehicle.

For $50 it's likely a Britpart one which are known for a very short lifespan.

Considering that roverland Parts sells used stuff I am willing to bet it OEM and will be in good condition. I know Atlantic British sells them, I do not remember what they cost there but it somewhere between $80-$100. Buy it there if you are concernced.
