Pikes Peak Rovers

I am looking at buying a Rover from Pikes Peak Rovers in Co Springs.

They seem like an honest shop. Does anyone have any comments about dealing with them?

Craig and the guys seem to have a happy following, can't really say I have heard anything really bad about them. As with any seller, though, they want to sell and make money, you want to have it checked out and get the best deal you can find.
What exactly are you looking at and for how much?

Count me among the "happy following". Great guys to work with. Certainly they're in business to make money and I've given them a bit over the past few years. Always a very equitable exchange.

I went by there the other day and spent an hour talking to Will, the office mgr, about what I was looking for. We ended up focusing on a late 90s (I cannot remember the year), Series I. Here is what I know about it, per what Will said. I should have the VIN soon and will post it and the Carfax.

-Will and the guys have been maintaining this rig for a customer for a few years. The guy is Mil and recently deployed to SWA so they bought it off of him.
-~150,000 miles
-The vehicle has been following recommended services performed by PPR
-Body is in AMAZING shape. Not a ding or scratch on it. Color is light gold. This is the best exterior on a Series I that I have ever seen and we have been looking for a while
-Interior is in okay shape. Slight leather tears in front seats. Moonroof shade snaps broken, etc.
-All electronics and mechanicals work
-No signs of head gasket leaking oil or water

They are asking $3,900 (I think).

At this point they are going to put it on a rack on Monday, go thru it in detail and identify both small and large issues. As long as there is nothing catastrophic about to fail, I will most likely buy it, after a test drive.

I really got a good vibe from Will. He seemed to be honest and they had a ton of Rovers at their shop. Most of their work is repair, not selling them.

Thoughts?

$3900 is pretty steep for a unknown year D1 with 150K on it.
Get a lot more specific information on it and get back to us.

For a comparison on price, I bought my 97 D1 LSE in Denver in 2008 with 80,000 miles for $3700.

Thanks for the comparison. I will do some research before coming to a price that I am willing to pay.
