I would still like to put something on the outside of the exhaust manifolds, just to get rid of the rust.
But am leary to waste the money, as powder coat will burn off like paint, but ceramic coat may be too efficiant and heat up the cats(NoDoubt said his cats glowed after wrapping the manifolds in heat tape).
I'm not trying to build a show vehicle by any means, just stop the rust and oxidation where ever I can.

I will be buying a Fel-Pro this time, as the AllMakes fit terrible. I even put rtv around each port on both sides to makes sure it sealed good. Upon removal, it had, and the amount was small enough to seal well and not bleed out...leaving a nice stained edge to port along.
fel-pros is pretty much the same. Maybe take a look at Genuine for the intake.

I haven't done any more with it yet, still just one head exhaust port done. Too many other things going on right now.
I did get 2 new sets of carbide bits, and I think I'll be able to port the aluminum pretty easily.
I tried a small spot on the cast iron exhaust manifold, and it cut suprisingly well too. But, as much material as there is to remove, it will be interesting to see how long those take, and how long the bits last.
Whenever I get my taxes back I'll buy a used block, and then all the gaskets. Then just the time to reassemble and put the engine back in.
I'm hoping to have it running by mid summer, time will tell.
I'll be sure and post my progress and results.
Thanks for asking.

The bits I got off amazon worked fine on the cast iron. Made short work of it really. Burned thru a lot of sand paper cartridges. Got mine form Summit.

Good to know. I have used Allmakes and Fel-Pro. Similar and difficult to seat.
