Portland OR shop doing Disco II front shafts
My new-to-me Disco needs to have the front shaft done, and while I'd love to do it in my driveway, my neighborhood association has already cited me for that sort of thing, so I'm doing it with some "help". A friend with a shop is pulling the shaft for me, and I'm taking it over to Driveline Services of Portland. They're on-line at http://www.driveshafts.com
Anyway, I talked to the owner over there, and he wasn't aware that there was a need for an affordable high-quality rebuilt driveshaft for the Disco II. I've given him all the info gleaned from this forum, and he's going to give me back a shiny rebuilt driveshaft in a day or so. His guess was about $125 in labor to straighten, clean, fully rebuild, and balance, plus whatever the parts cost is.
I will report back once he's done, just so there's no surprises.
I've also suggested to him that he score a couple of used shafts to rebuild so he can do "same day swaps" for people in a hurry. He's thinking on that, but was favorable.
Thought I'd share. I have no financial interest in this at all, just trying to help out my fellow Disco II owners.
