Possibly a momentary lapse of judgement....

Let me preface this with the fact that I have only slept about 3 hrs a night all week, so I'm using this as my excuse :-)

Started in on the whole 60k maintenance thing that we all are supposed to do. I'm chipping away at it each week. I figured the next affordable thing to do would be to flush out the coolant this weekend. I cruised over to advanced auto last night after work when all of a sudden the big red, "buy our brand of coolant 2/$10" sign caught my eye. I snatch up 4 jugs of the Peak coolant most on here recommend over the dexcool and headed to the counter. As I get up there, low and behold, the old lady had taken $30 of the $60 I had in my wallet....awesome....no biggie, I can use the ATM card.....no wait....where's my ATM card??? Ahhhh thats right, left it in my desk at work 55 miles away....its been colder than a well diggers ass here in Indiana, and I wasnt in the mood to go home to get more money and come back. So I start thinking...which is dangerous considering the foggy state of mind I was in at the moment. "Hell I can get 4 jugs of Advanced brand coolant for roughly $25." I start asking about it and as usual, the hillbilly at the counter "uses it everything I own" and says it works with all brands and colors....why did I believe this guy? I think I just wanted the whole thing to be over with, so I bought 4 jugs and headed home. After finally getting a full night of rest, I awake to a vision...I need to ask the forum 1) is this stuff ok to use 2) if not, please forgive me Disco fathers, for I have sinned.

Im guessing you die hards are going to give me my lashings I deserve and tell me to take the sh** back and use Peak. I'd like to try to save the $$ after the beating my bank account took over the holidays, and a trip back to hillbilly hell, but I dont want to roach my Disco either.

Look on the back of the bottle to see who actually makes it. I can probably find out if it is not obvious on the label. My point is that there are only so many coolant makers and they are all fairly decent as long as you keep a reasonable drain length.

I will give you an example, there are 2 kinds of walmart supertech coolant one is made by prestone and the other is made by peak. They are on the shelf right next to peak and prestone, same stuff.

I think you will be fine , I am not a huge fan of dexcool .......and usually change the coolant once a year( assuming it hasn't leaked out a complete change before that LOL )
2x on changing it regularly as above, and by the way....just exactly how cold IS a well digger's azz ?

I am not even sure why you posted the fact that you screwed up, do you really need to have us tell you that before you go back and buy the DexCool??????????????

GREEN STUFF IS A OK!!!! orange stuff is bad for gaskets and water pumps anyways...

BTW there is only 2 plants in NA that make antifreeze for cars and trucks... same stuff , different brand/bottle

As long as it is aluminum safe it is safe to use, no matter the color or brand.
