Default Power Steering Cooler loop

Anyone have any suggestions for repairing or replacing the cooler loop in the power steering circuit? Part number 1 is leaking somewhere in the loop in front of the radiator and I'm not sure it's still available, but I'm definitely sure I don't want to pay for a new one. It's on the high pressure side so I'm not sure a piece of hose will cut it. There is a difference between early and late D2. Judging by the serial number cutoff, I suspect 03/04 is different than 99-02 but I'm not certain.

I just used a piece of hydraulic hose with really good clamps. It's been on at least a year.

Their are a few on eBay and I'm sure other vendors have them.

Find out the working/max pressure in RAVE then take the part to an excavator, tractor or specialist hydraulic parts shop and get them to make a hydraulic hose to match existing even if they use the same connectors.

These connectors, SUCK. I broke my cooler from the pushing, pulling motion.

Thanks for the replies. I'm confused by the part numbers, well, in absence of part numbers I'm confused by the VIN range specified for the loop itself. The site with the pic I linked above says the cooler is good up to VIN 3A793275 and is ~$235; the part for VINs above that is only $175 so apparently there's a difference. They eBay ad says that cooler is good for 99-03 (mine is an 04) but the more common resellers, including the dealers, list the same part for 99-04. My guess is that the difference is probably negligible especially given what the dealer offers but all that aside I'm trying to avoid paying those kinds of prices and I'm more interested in a hack fix for this.

I think a section of hose with adequate clamping to replace any leaky areas is probably the best way forward. Replacing the entire loop with hose would defeat the cooling properties of the metal loop. Rave says 62bar max and one of my other vehicles uses Oetiker clamps on short sections of hose in this same circuit at 120bar so clamps are probably fine. After tearing back into the grill last night though, my trans cooler is definitely leaking badly from the core so I need to sort that out before I can be sure where (or even if) the steering cooler is leaking.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I would like to know if my 2003 Discovery II SE 4.6L has a power steering cooler or if it is just a loop installed below the radiator - without taking it apart.

Definitely does not have a cooler installed, just a loop.

Thanks. I have replaced the PS pump and the hoses. I still have a leak. I looks like there is a leak from the top of the steering box. Possibly from around a couple of the 4 bolts that attach the lid to the box ? Steering box lid gasket? I would just try to tighten those 4 bolts down tighter but I think they would have a certain torque. Anyone know how to find out what that torque would be?

Here's the page from the RAVE manual that addresses steering components. It's possible that it's a seal however.
