Power Steering Leak
 

Hi I have been searching the forums with no luck trying to find a power steering leak that sounds similar to mine.

It seems to be leaking somewhere away from the steering box/reservoir/pump area. Is there a line that runs the fluid down along the radiator. It seems like it is coming from further toward the front of the truck in the area of the radiator. If I pull the plastic shield off the top of the radiator it looks dry, however when I look straight below from underneath the fluid is running down that main front frame piece and on to the torsion bar and steering damper.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You do have one line that does run under the radiator for a short distance. Go power scrub the entire engine under side and front, then crawl under and verify the hose.
How mechanical are you?

and leave the plastic shield off , it just give stuff a place to collect.

I am somewhat mechanically capable. I bought this disco at a low price and have put a new PAS pump in it and fabricated my own bumper so far. Aside from that I have just done some usual fluid flushes, shock, brakes, etc. I think I can swap out that line if I can just: a) get to it and b)find one somewhere. I don't live near any junk yards with discos and I am having trouble finding one online. I will clean it up tonight and confirm that is where it is leaking from and report back.

...At least pulling by bumper off is somewhat easy!

Ebay is a good place for parts, both new and used. Rockauto.com is another favorite of mine. Also there are several dismantlers who frequent the site, so post to the "Private "Wanted" Classifieds" forum and they'll find you.

If memory serves, that line is sorta expensive.

I pulled the part off this evening after confirming that it is the culprit. I have searched the web and have not found one for less than $130. I am going to check around for a used one and see what I can do...Thanks guys!!!
