Question on Cruise Control issue

When I put the cruise on in our Disco II (2003 SE) it feels like it applies throttle....then coasts...applies throttle...then coasts...and so on. It does not feel like it does a very good job of holding its speed. It speeds up, coasts then has to apply more throttle. Its quite annoying. Any ideas as to the problem or is that normal LR cruise control This is my first one.

Thanks

that is about how they work. Check your vacuum lines and make sure that the hoses are solid and are all connected securely. I have two DIIs and that is just how they work. Other may have better experiences. Good luck. Phil

My truck does the same thing....After a couple of miles it does seem to smooth out though.

Mine does the exact same thing. If ya'll find a fix lemme know, it's kind of annoying speed up/slow down/speed up/slow down.

Mine works fine. Maybe an issue with the VSS (?)

Mine's an '01 Disco 2 and it doesn't do that. The speed remains constant.

Sounds like I need to get a cruise off of a 2000-2001 year Disco! :D

my speed doesn't seem to change too much. It seems more like it is the engine that surges, but the speed stays the same. Phil

My speed doesn't appear to change too much (the engine definately surges though), but according to my gps it's about 3mph that I bounce between. It usually smooths out after about 20 mins, but it's still annoying as heck.

if it surges you can reprogram the cruise control module on 03 and 04 only.
