Quick Help Please - Oil Change Question
The RAVE CD tells me to replace the oil drain plug washer when I am changing the oil. I looked at it and it looks like a normal metal washer and not one you would have to change every time. I did not order one, so can not discard and replace it. Do you normally replace it every time? I have not done so on other vehicles. Thanks.
Also, to remove the oil filter, do you just remove the little round access door or will that lead to a big mess? Do I need to remove the whole plate that is covering the area? I figured just the little round cover, but wanted to be sure before I made a big mess. Thanks.

RE: Quick Help Please - Oil Change Question
First, just turn the oil wash seal over every time you change the oil and you won't have any problems.
As for the lower cover, many people take it off, it will help keep your engine a little cooler and make it easier to get to the engine.
Use only a factory filter, a Mobil1-301 or a K&N 3001 oil filter to help prevent dry starts.
Make sure before installing the new oil filter that you fill the filter at least 1/2 full of new oil.
