Default Radiator Out, Questions About Screws

Hello everyone,

I took the radiator out today of my 04 D2 SE and i have some questions about the screws used in the radiator mounts.

i looked up the part number in my parts list and was unable to find it.

Are all the Phillips head screws the same? The screws I am referring to are the fan shroud screws, the two bracket screws, the two middle mount screws.

as well, is there a bolt or a different screw I could use on the top? If not I think I’ll use two or three washers with the fan shroud screws

Thanks

The screws directly above the tanks should be shorter. They are not all the same. But good work being proactive about not puncturing your tank.

For the brackets I got hex screws called "license plate screws" from the local hardware store. They are much easier to install/remove than the original phillips.

As Dave03S said. This is potentially a huge fail if the screws get mixed up. When I did my radiator change I measured the distance (about 5/8" I think) to the tank and made sure the screws were considerably shorter. I only knew about this by reading before I did the swap. If not I could have easily ran the wrong screw in and ruined a new radiator. The screws only need to thread in a little to do the job. Recently I bought shorter replacements and ground the ends flat to be safe.
