REALLY Stiff SLS

A few weeks ago I installed a 2 inch lift kit which consisted of 2 OME springs in the front and RTE SLS spacers in the rear. I adjusted the ride height with the sensor extensions that were provided by RTE. After getting everything situated and happy, the rear end feels REALLY stiff. I hit a bump with the front end and the suspension just squishes and rides right over. The back end hits it and THUMP! There is some articulation there, but it feels way stiffer then before.

Any ideas?

new shocks in the rear are a lot stiffer than your stock one's, depending on what you went with...

What did you use?

You don't mention new shocks. As I understand, with the 2in lift you should replace the shocks because the new ones will have more travel.

I thought about doing the same lift you did with my SLS truck, would be easier to pass through my budget in lift then shock payments. I was advised the truck would ride like you are describing. The lift will need the longer shocks to ride correctly.

I had put OME shocks on it a while back(supposedly the ones that matched the springs). I just left those on. I'm unsure on the model number etc... The shocks are sort of another variable. A friend of mine is telling me that I'm over extending the shocks. Basically the opposite of bottoming out. So they might be too short for the lift. The fronts are fine though.

Aside from that the rear just seems like it's welded to the frame. I tow with my Disco quite a bit and the SLS air bags appear to be functioning properly, they go up and down when I need them to so I'm pretty sure they aren't locked up. The just don't seem a squishy as the front.

Disco Mike,

Really?

Brian

Why not, you have a problem and I most likely have the answer since I run the same system.

Right on. Check your PMs.

Thanks,
Brian

SLS is a great system when it works properly. I'm betting longer shocks to match your lift height will help your problem.
