Rear door speakers not working in 95 Disco

Hey guys- just found this forum and am excited to have a place to research about my Disco!

My '95 Disco's rear door speakers are not working- we took them out and everything is wired up just fine. Anyone know what else could be the problem? Would getting new speakers solve the problem?

is it the harmon kardon system? its most likely blown amplifier channels. if for some reason a wire was disconnected or didnt have good contact from the amp to the speakers and you had them playing for a while with that happening, it will blow that output channel in the amp. its like taking the amplified signal from the amplifier and running it into a brick wall. switch some wires to make sure its not the speakers.

I don't think they're Harmon Kardon- it's a '95.

I'll see if I can play with the wires a bit. Why would only the rear door speakers not work if I blew the amp channels?

because the rear door speakers have their own 90watt amp..........and if you have blown the output channels, they will not make sound....;) but the rest of ther speakers will still play from the head unit amp.....

You can test the speakers by simply unhooking them from the back of your truck and take a AA battery. Hook a wire from the negative end of that battery to the negative end of the speaker. Then take a wire from the positive end of the battery to the positive end of the speaker, and simply touch it. At the touch, if your battery is fresh, and your speaker is still in working order it should make a "popping" sound.

Have you or previous owner taken stereo out and not put wires back correctly, take the head unit out and check there is a special set of wires to stick in the case holes to release the unit you should be able to get them from a parts store, most units are Phillips on this model. Hope this helps
