Rear Hatch Door Stuck

Rear Hatch Door Stuck
Good-day all,
Problem: I have an '02 Disco II with a 'stuck' rear hatch door that will not open...the handle feels the same when I pull up on it locked or unlocked. I took it to the local LR dealer who informed me that it was working, but when i tried it before leaving the dealer it did not work. (They said i could re-schedule, which is about 1 month from now). Anyhow I don't want to wait, I would like to Do-it-Myself. Can anyone direct me on how to get into the 'stuck' door so I can diagnose the exact problem?
BTW, I already took out the LR decal from the plastic casing covering the handle, but it doesn't reveal anything. I need to get into the door or get it opened.
Thanks for any help, this one's frustrating.

RE: Rear Hatch Door Stuck
Remove the LR emblem from the cargo door, take a spray lube and spray the handle and all the moving parts that you can see.
Work the handle, repeat spray. Keep doing this until it opens.
Once the door is open spray the door latch too. Then open the door all the way and spray the slide and roller along the bottom of the door. Open and close the door a couple of times to get the lube worked into everything rearlly well.
I use bike chain lube on my door slide.
Do this once a month and after every car wash.

RE: Rear Hatch Door Stuck
I found that I had give mine a few good wacks with a rubber mallet near the latch to get it to free up. Once open I took the door apart, pulled the latch mechanism and cleaned everything up. Sprayingthe actual latch mechanismwith lube as mentioned above may help enough though.
