Rear Lamp Guard Hardware

Hey guys,

Just got the 2003 #3 TReK Disco and I've got a question. It came with the rear lamp guards (just like the ones below) but not the screws needed to mount them. I've contacted several dealerships/Atlantic British and everyone tells me that they only come as part of a kit. So essentially, I'd have to go ahead and buy a whole new set of lamp guards just to get the screws...$250 screws...I'm good.

Does anyone know where I could pick up a set of these screws?

Thanks,

J

maybe you can buy the kit to see what the screws look like in person, take it to the hardware store and try and find something that is close and see if that works. if it works return the kit and get your money back.

Find another trek disco in a parking lot....
I think you've been screwed lol

Those are the same lamp guards for the early DII's, so if you find a "friend" with a DII with lamp guards, just have him back one of the screws out so you can have a look and go from there.

I have those lamp guards but don't have my truck with me today at work so the earliest I could help would be tonight between about 6:30-7:00pm when I get home.

IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S SEE SOME PICS OF THAT TREK DISCO! :D

Are they really that different from the ones that are in the lights now? From the looks of mine (the plastic ones) they should not be much different.

The 03 and 04 G4 smooth profile lamp guards screw/drill right in using the existing tail lamp hardware. That was the easiest intall ever. I'm guessing the older guards arent the same way. I have the older heavy duties on the tailgate and the newer style up top.

Hey yloDiscoII,

Thanks buddy! No rush at all! If you could just give me a ballpark estimate of the size of the screws (I can't really tell from that link I posted) that would be awesome! Rovers North actually wrote me back too saying they could special order them for $40+. Still high right? I was hoping that I could even find a substitute down at Lowe's/Home Depot. Any thoughts?

Hey Snafu,

I was thinking the same thing. But after you hold them up to the light there is easily an inch+ of room left. Bummer right?

Yep...interesting. I figured there should not be much more room needed. Did you at least try one to give it a shot?
And yes..$40 for 8 small screws is just silly!

You betcha,

I'll try to take some pics and measurements for you when I get home. Hopefully they are nothing fancy and you can just pickup at a hardware store rather than spending $40 (highway robbery).
