rear park assist
2004 HSE. the other night was pretty cold and icy here in STL. ice formed over the sensors for the rear park assist and the buzzer began to incessantly sound.
when in reverse i could hit the button and it would shut off. in drive, however, the buzzer would sound no matter what i did. i have since cleaned off the sensors on the rear bumper but am still randomly getting the beeping sound. again, in reverse i can shut it off. in any forward gear it will randomly come on and shut off. because of the temps right now i don't think that i want to climb under the rear bumper to look for loose wires. is there any way to disable the park assist or at the very least the buzzer speaker? where is that bastard located? unfortunately, the fuse for the park assist is shared by a few other valuable items, so i can't just pull that. |
The rear parking assist unit is located in the very back of the D2. With the cargo door open you'll see the two little vent panels. Remove the one on the drivers side. You should see a little module mounted on a little metal bracket. It should be labeled.

thanks.
I'll check that out today. |
You will see the speaker in there that makes the sound. just use a long screwdriver and push the connector off the speaker.

On my 2003 D2 the park assist 'acts up' when the sensors are wet whilst it's raining etc, before exploring the 'inner sanctum' of the load area try drying the sensors first.
