Rear suspension "rubbing" noise.
 

Hi guys. I have a weird noise that been bugging me since I bought the Disco. As I pull up into my driveway (not steep by any means, normal, residential graded driveway entrance) I make the right hand turn and hear a rubbing sound from my passenger rear wheel well. At least that's where it sounds like it's coming from. It sounds like how you think your car would sound if your tire was rubbing on something in the wheel well. It's not really a grinding noise. It only lasts a second and only in that particular scenario. Any ideas of where to look? The truck is stock with 46k on it and I'm assuming that all of the suspension is still original.

I'm curious as to why your rear wheel would rub when turning? Being stationary, you would think the rubbing is coming from the front where the wheels are moving.

Does the TC work?

It's especially odd due to the fact that the vehicle leans away from the turn, so you would have more clearance when taking a right. How rusty is the undercarriage, is the spring broken?

I have a similar noise. It only happens as I cross a certain road with a slight edge to it. As the rear comes off this crossing road, slight bounce and this rubbing noise. Seems to come from both left and right rear.

Have either of you looked under there to see if you can see any wear or rubbing pattern?

Stick you a go pro under their and take it for a spin to where it is happening.

Do the watts test for kicks and giggles.

The Go Pro is a fun idea. Also, I'll take a look for any spots that look worn from rubbing. There is some light surface rust on some parts, but not to the point of flaking or anything (going to Waxoyl it this summer). Thanks for that Watts link video. I'll take a look tomorrow as well.
